 Experience

Steve was recruited as a trainee in the latter part of 2007. In 2008 he graduated as Doctor of Laws from the University of Malta after submitting his thesis on the Transposition of the Market in Financial Instruments Directive in Maltese Law.

In September 2008 Steve embarked on a LL.M. in Commercial Law at the University of Edinburgh where he studied Banking and Finance, Debt and Insolvency Law, Company Law and EC Competition Law. He submitted his dissertation on the Application of EC Competition Rules to Public Undertakings. He became a junior associate of the firm in 2010.

Steve’s main areas of practice are the public procurement sector, maritime and aviation law, competition law, corporate law and general commercial law.

Steve practices predominantly in the areas of asset finance, in particular any matters relating to the aviation and shipping industries, including commercial aircrafts and vessels, private jets and yachts, containers and oil rigs or similar platforms. Steve has also been involved in enforcement proceedings in relation to mortgages on vessels and other forms of security.

Steve is also very active in the public procurement sector and has been involved in a number of litigation proceedings before the Planning Contracts Appeals Board and has advised both local authorities and private companies on local and European laws governing the public procurement sector.
