We acted for the promoters of the first fund management company to be set up in Malta, and subsequently for the fund manager in the launch of the first collective investment scheme in Malta, which was set up as a multi-class, open-ended investment company. The firm’s exposure to this area has grown apace since then with the firm assisting major investment service providers including stockbroking firms, custodians, investment advisors, fund managers and investment funds.  We have advised also in relation to the establishment and marketing of investment funds including all related investment management and advisory agreements.

In addition to acting as counsel to locally licensed retail funds, we are also retained by a number of overseas UCITS funds passporting their funds into Malta. We have also been retained as local counsel to a number of overseas firms providing services in Malta on the basis of the Markets in Financial Instruments Directive (MiFID).
