Experience

Louis commenced his professional career as in-house legal counsel with Bank of Valletta, where he was involved in revamping the legal department of the bank and increased its internal profile as an advisory unit.  During his time at Bank of Valletta, Louis advised the Bank on a number of corporate finance and banking transactions as well as regulatory matters.

Louis then joined Camilleri Preziosi in 1993 and was invited to partnership in 1995.  Since joining Camilleri Preziosi Louis has been involved principally in corporate finance transactions spanning a number of deals both locally and internationally. 

Louis has led the Camilleri Preziosi team in a number of Privatisation transactions and capital market issues and has been involved in numerous M&A transactions both locally and internationally. 

Louis is currently responsible for Corporate and M&A; Tax; Banking & Insurance; and Financial Markets & Products.

Louis has advised the Government of Malta on a number of transactions, the most recent of which is the sale of shares in Maltacom plc (now ‘GO’) by the Government of Malta to Tecom Investments. He also leads the team which recently won the engagement of the Ministry of Finance for the securitization of immovable property by the Government of Malta.

Louis is also very active in advising a number of private sector clients particularly in the banking and finance sector, as well as in major projects.  He has acted for International Hotel Investments in the acquisition of hotel properties in each of St. Petersburg, Lisbon, Budapest, Prague and Tripoli.  He also led the Camilleri Preziosi team in the acquisition of Melita Cable plc by GMT Partners.

Other

Louis is a lecturer on “Drafting and Negotiating Commercial Contracts” in the Faculty of Laws at the University of Malta and an examiner in Commercial Law at the University of Malta.
