We act as external counsel to a major local (4P) communications operator and in this field we provide advice on competition, EU and local electronic communications law, converging products and services primarily focussed on Pay TV, broadband, fixed and mobile telephony services. What’s more, we have seamlessly led negotiations for the design, supply and commissioning of a submarine communications cable between Malta and Sicily.
Camilleri Preziosi provides advice on commercial and legal issues surrounding the media and entertainment industry. The firm has advised clients on broadcasting regulations, censorship issues, libel and defamation, and intellectual property rights related to film, music and creative industries. Our experience in this field extends to advice on cyberspace law. This advice includes protection of intellectual property rights online, content regulation and competition law applied to cyberspace.
Data protection and freedom of information
The firm advises on the related, but conflicting fields of privacy, data protection and freedom of information. We have advised clients on data protection issues related to employment matters and the disclosure of personal data for directory services provided by electronic communications operators. Camilleri Preziosi has, on more than one occasion, advised clients on the disclosure of information according to the recently implemented Freedom of Information Act, Chapter 496 of the laws of Malta.
Camilleri Preziosi has much experience and expertise in leading negotiations and drafting contracts dealing with information technologies, such as System Supply Contracts and contracts for Outsourcing of Information Technology and related services functions, typically involving physical, real or intangible assets or staff to a service provider. We have seamlessly led negotiations for the procurement of the IT system in the public health sector.
